Brajesh Pathak is an Indian politician and a member of the 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. Presently he is serving as one of the Deputy Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister of Medical Education, Medical and Health and Family Welfare in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

He has also been the MP from Unnao from 2004 to 2009. In 2022 Uttar Pradesh general elections, he won by a good margin in the Lucknow Cantonment constituency.[1]

Early life and education

Brajesh Pathak was born to Mr. Suresh Pathak and Mrs. Kamla Pathak in Mallawan, Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. He is a lawyer by profession. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Lucknow University.

Personal life

Brajesh Pathak is married to Mrs. Namrata Pathak.

Political career

In 2017 he was elected MLA from Lucknow Central and was appointed Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Sworn in as the Cabinet Minister for Law and Legislative, Additional Sources of Energy and Political Pensions on 19 March 2017. On 21 August 2019, after the first cabinet expansion of the Yogi government, his portfolio was changed to that of the Minister of Legislative, Justice, Rural Engineering Services. On 25 March 2022, he became the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. In the year 2004, he was elected a member of the 14th Lok Sabha. Personnel Committee, Public Grievances, Law and Justice Member, Business Advisory Committee Member, Public Accounts Committee, Home Ministry Member, Consultative Committee Member of Delimitation Commission. Member, Standing Committee on External Affairs from May 2006 to November 2008. Member, Committee of Privileges from 25 August 2006 to November 2008 and Member, Standing Committee on Coal and Steel from 5 August 2007 to November 2008. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in November 2008. Standing Committee on Finance from July 2008 to November 2008. Was a member of the National Committee on NCC. Committee on Railways from January 2009 to May 2009, Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in July 2009, Committee on Home Affairs from August 2009 to August 2010, General Purposes Committee from October 2010 to November 2014, Member of House Committee in September 2010 and In August 2010, he was nominated as the chairman of the Health and Family Welfare Committee. In the year 1990, he was the President of the Students' Union of the prestigious Lucknow University. During the student movement, the Student-Youth Struggle Committee was formed. In the year 1987, he was also the representative of the Law Faculty of the Lucknow University Students' Union. Kabaddi, volleyball are his favorite sports.
