This is a list of hospitals in California (U.S. state), grouped by county and sorted by hospital name. In healthcare in California, only a general acute care hospital or acute psychiatric hospital, as licensed by the California Department of Public Health, can be referred to as a "hospital." As of 2018, the CPHD Center for Health Care Quality Cal Health Find database[1] reports 422 general acute care hospitals statewide, as well as 128 acute psychiatric hospitals.[2]
