Following the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League regular season, the league holds a playoff tournament for the top teams in the league. In the final round of the playoffs, dubbed as the MPBL Finals or MPBL National Finals, the winning team of the series declared the season's champions. The National Finals is a best-of-five series, where the team with the higher regular season record is given homecourt advantage. The home-and-away format currently being used is 2-2-1 (the team with advantage hosts games 1, 2, and 5).

Five different teams have won the national championship with neither winning more than once. Since the introduction of divisions, three teams did so as a member of the North Division, while one did so as a member of the South Division.

Numbers in parentheses indicate the number of times that team has appeared in the MPBL Finals, as well as each respective teams' MPBL Finals record up to date.
