It is derived from the Greek name Rhōxanē (Latinised to Roxana), used for Roxana, the wife of Alexander the Great, a derivative of the Persian Roshanak, meaning "bright star"; rokh meaning "face", shan "bright" or "glowing", and k meaning "little one". رخشانک.
