Sara Waisglass (born 3 July 1998)[1][2] is a Canadian actress.
Waisglass first rose to notability as a child actress, playing the role of Jordy Cooper in the children's sitcom Overruled! from 2010 to 2011 and appearing as Frankie Hollingsworth in Degrassi: The Next Generation and Degrassi: Next Class from 2013 to 2017. As an adult, she starred as Robyn in the 2017 film Mary Goes Round and as Maxine Baker in the Netflix drama series Ginny & Georgia in 2021 and 2022.
Early life
Sara was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario,[2] by her parents Tessa and Jeff Waisglass, along with her sister Carly.[2] She attended Earl Haig Secondary School in Toronto.[2] She attended York University for four years,[3] graduating with a degree in screenwriting,[4] citing an interest in developing her writing skills.[4][5] She likes to play the piano.[5]
Career
In 2007, Waisglass made her television debut playing eight-year-old Jane in The Jane Show.[6] In 2008, Waisglass was cast in her first film role in the Gilles Bourdos-directed psychological thriller Afterwards, alongside John Malkovich and Evangeline Lilly.[7][8][9] In 2009, she continued her career on television, appearing in 29 episodes of Overruled!.[1][2] She also appeared in a commercial for KFC.[3] Beginning in 2013, she played Frankie Hollingsworth in the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
In 2015, Waisglass was cast in the Anton Corbijn-directed biographical drama film Life,[10] alongside Robert Pattinson and Sir Ben Kingsley.[11] The same year, Waisglass was nominated for "Best Recurring Young Actress 16-21" at the Young Entertainer Awards for her role as Frankie Hollingsworth in Degrassi: The Next Generation.[12]
In 2017, Waisglass played Mary's half-sister Robyn in the Molly McGlynn directed film Mary Goes Round,[13] which featured at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.[14] In 2020, she starred as Madison St. Claire in eight episodes of the supernatural drama series October Faction.[3]
In 2021, Waisglass starred as Maxine in the Netflix comedy series Ginny and Georgia,[4][15] in a cast that included Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Chelsea Clark and Katie Douglas.[9]
