The Boston mayoral election of 1861 took place on Monday, December 9, 1861,[1][2] and saw the reelection of Joseph Wightman.
Wightman was nominated by both the Democratic Party and "Citizens" tickets.[3] His opponent, Edward Silas Tobey, was nominated by the Republican Party.[1]
