Funny Girl (New Broadway Cast Recording) is the Broadway cast recording for the 2022 Broadway revival of the musical of the same title, starring Lea Michele. The album was released on November 18, 2022, digitally, while a physical version was released on January 20, 2023, under Gemini Theatricals, Accidental Jacket, and Sony Masterworks Broadway. Beanie Feldstein, who originally played the role of Fanny Brice in the revival, was absent from the recording. The album reached number one on the US Billboard Cast Albums.

Production

In fall of 2022, recording for a Funny Girl cast recording started at Power Station Studios in Manhattan.[1] It was produced by Gemini Theatricals, Accidental Jacket and Masterworks Broadway.[2] In a surprise announcement at a performance of Funny Girl on November 16, 2022, Lea Michele announced the release of the album; the announcement was live streamed on Instagram.[3] The release would be the first Broadway cast recording since the original cast recording which was released 58 years prior.[4] The album was released on November 18, 2022, digitally, while a physical CD version was released on January 20, 2023.[5] Although Beanie Feldstein originated the Broadway revival, she is notably absent from the recordings of Funny Girl.[6]
