TAG Music (stylized as T∆G Music), also known as The Artist Group, is an American independent record label founded by Gabe Saporta and Mike Carden in 2015.
History
In 2015, Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship and Mike Carden of The Academy Is... announced the formation of The Artist Group or 'T∆G' as a talent management firm, which commenced operations in the first quarter of 2016. Saporta explained in an interview with Billboard that rather than record and release his own music, he now wanted to work behind the scenes to help the next generation of artists.[1]
In 2020, TAG made Tessa Violet an A&R consultant, and she signed the Canadian alternative rock band Daysormay.[2]
In 2022, Gabe Saporta joined beatBread's Artist Advocacy Council,[3] which provides "critical advice" to the independent music funding platform. Other members of the council include Mike Caren (Artist Partner Group), Dave Dederer (founding member of The presidents of the United States of America), Diana Rodriguez (Criteria Entertainment), Kei Henderson (Third & Hayden), Ray Daniels (Raydar, LLC), and Nick Jarjour (Hipgnosis).
In 2023, Atlantic Records launched a joint venture with TAG Music to sign artists Sophie Powers and Jules Is Dead.[4]
