- May 20: The Simpsons episode "Lisa Goes Gaga" is first broadcast, guest starring pop singer Lady Gaga.[7] This episode was panned by critics along with Simpsons fans and Lady Gaga fans and is often considered to be one of the worst Simpsons episodes.

- June 8: The third Madagascar film, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, is released by DreamWorks.
