The top 16 players from the PDC ProTour Order of Merit Archived 2012-12-05 at archive.today on 4 March automatically qualified for the event and were seeded in the second round.[3] The remaining 32 places went to players from three qualifying events - 20 from the UK Qualifier (held in Barnsley on 11 March),[4] eight from the European Qualifier on 22 April[5] and four from the Host Nation Qualifier on 5 May.
Adrian Lewis withdrew due to personal reasons just as the tournament began, and was not replaced. This gave Max Hopp a bye to the third round.
