The Conservative Party lost control of the council after losing seven seats in the election.[6][7] After the elections the Conservative leader Phil King resigned.[8] A joint Liberal Democrat, Labour and Green administration took power at the first meeting of the newly elected council on 15 May 2023, with Phil Knowles becoming Leader.[9]
