The 76ers–Lakers rivalry is a National Basketball Association (NBA) rivalry between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. The rivalry stems back to 1950, when the Lakers were based in Minneapolis and the 76ers were known as the Syracuse Nationals. It mainly centers around six matchups in the NBA Finals, in 1950, 1954, 1980, 1982, 1983, and 2001. The Lakers won all of these matchups besides 1983. The 76ers are often considered the Lakers' second-largest rivals in the Eastern Conference, behind only the Boston Celtics and ahead of the Detroit Pistons.[1][2][3][4]
