Ana González Rodríguez (born 26 August 1970), better known as Ana Locking, is a Spanish fashion designer, businesswoman, and photographer. She was born in Toledo and educated in Madrid.[2] Ana is also a judge on Drag Race España.
Career
In 1997, Ana Locking, together with Óscar Benito, founded Locking Shocking, a ready-to-wear fashion label, claiming to maintain "strong ties with other artistic disciplines".[3] The team received a variety of accolades: in 2003, The Young designer's Premio L'Oreal;[4] 2004, from the Spanish Marie Claire, a Gran Prix de la moda.[3][5] Their partnership lasted until 2007, when the label effectively disappeared due to the decision of their business partner, Humana Cultura y Comunicación.[6][7]
In 2008, she launched a new Ready-to-wear fashion label, Ana Locking,[8][9] which received multiple accolades, including the Premio L'Oréal in 2008,[10] and the Premio Mujer Fun Fearless Female in 2009, which was awarded by the Spanish Cosmopolitan.[11] In 2020, the label received the National Fashion Design Award, which was bestowed by the Ministry of Culture of Spain. [12] In 2021, the label received the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts, which was awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Spain. [13] In 2022, the label received the Madrid Culture Award, which was awarded by the Community of Madrid. [14]
In 2021, Ana Locking became a recurring judge on Drag Race España.
Personal life
In 2020, Locking was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she was treated for with surgery and radiotherapy. In July 2020, it was confirmed that she was cured.[15]
