Chincheros is the Capital of the Province Chincheros. Chincheros District is one of the eight districts of the province Chincheros in Peru.[1]

Ethnic groups

The people in Chincheros are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (62.72%) learnt to speak in childhood, 36.79% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[2]
