Collaborating Harmony: Dwiki Dharmawan (commonly referred as Collaborating Harmony) is the first tribute album by Dwiki Dharmawan released by Sony Music in 2014, a year after his special album, Menembus Batas. Created as a celebration of Dharmawan's tricenary, Collaborating Harmony was inspired by Dharmawan's musical journey in Indonesian music over the years. It consists of twelve tracks that are mostly cover versions of Dharmawan's songs, along with three new compositions by Dharmawan including "Lamalera's Dream", "Kerinduanku" and "We Are Many We Are One".

Collaborating Harmony is primarily an Indo pop record with elements of bubblegum pop, teen pop, dance-pop, slow rock, R&B and orchestral music. The album was preceded by the lead single "Imaji" sung by Shena Malsiana, which previously released on 20 December 2013.

Background

Dharmawan reveal the album for the first time in an interview at FX Sudirman. Before the tribute album was released, Dharmawan began explaining which music genre heard by adolescents.[2] The title Collaborating Harmony describes Dharmawan's musical journey in Indonesian music for the last three decades.[3] From most of his songs, he chose twelve to be sung by young singers. He said it originally had thirty tracks, then shrunk to twenty as an official from Sony Music Jan Djuhana announced them and finally shrunk to nine in which representing songs' harmony and theme, including songs by Krakatau and movie soundtracks. He also wrote and self-arranged three new songs, "Lamalera's Dream", "We Are Many We Are One", and "Kerinduanku" ("My Longing").[4] It was preceded by the album's lead single and title track "Imaji" sung by Shena Malsiana, released on 20 December 2013,[5] which was received positive reviews, including its rearrangement.[6] The album itself released digitally on 6 February, followed by the physical release on 25 February.[4]

Production

To produce Collaborating Harmony, Dharmawan enlisted new collaborators to fit in with modern-day Indonesian music, such as Indonesian songwriter Badai and young singers, with some of which are eliminated from X Factor Indonesia.[7]
