Esmail Chat (Persian: اسماعيل چات, also Romanized as Esmā‘īl Chāt; also known as Bajnak Chāt)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Esmail Chat Rural District of the Central District of Zarabad County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran.[4]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 498 in 70 households, when it was in Zarabad-e Sharqi Rural District of the former Zarabad District of Konarak County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 732 people in 159 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 831 people in 189 households; it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]
After the census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Zarabad County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Zarabad as its capital and only city.[4]
