Eternal Sunshine is the upcoming seventh studio album by American singer Ariana Grande, scheduled to be released in 2024 under Republic Records.[1][2][3]
"Yes, And?" was released as the album's lead single on January 12, 2024.[4][5][6][7]
Background
On May 12, 2022, 19 months after the release of her sixth studio album Positions (2020), Grande clarified that she would not be recording another album until she is done filming Wicked (2024), the film adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name, in which she portrays the character Glinda.[8] In October 2023, she first jokingly hinted at a forthcoming album by posting "ag7: goat mother" as an Instagram caption.[9] A set of pictures included a photo of her with Swedish producer and long-time collaborator Max Martin at the top of Jungle City Studios, New York City.[10]
On December 7 and December 17, Grande shared a series of pictures and video clips working in recording studios and of her editing audio files.[11] As opposed to previous eras, she specifically stated that there would be no song snippets for the upcoming record.[12] On December 27, the singer confirmed a 2024 album release via her social media.[13] She posted a carousel of videos on her Instagram that show her crying in a recording studio and her mother Joan dancing to a new song of hers, amongst others.[14] She captioned the post "See you next year." and tagged several accounts, including Swedish musician Ilya Salmanzadeh, music video director Christian Breslauer, and Republic Records.[15][16] She referred to the picture of her crying and another one which depicts her dancing as the "two moods of the album".[16] R.E.M. Beauty packages including a blurred close-up shot of Grande's red lips and the post's caption on a note were sent to several fans.[17][15]

Cover artwork
Grande revealed in January 2024 that the cover artwork for the lead single, "Yes, And?" would serve as one of the album's cover variants.[18] It was photographed by Katia Temkin.[19] It depicts a blurry close-up shot of the left side of Grande's face; she wears her brand R.E.M. Beauty's "On Your Collar" classic lipstick of the red shade "Attention".[20]
Singles
"Yes, And?", the lead single of the album, was released on January 12, 2024, via streaming services.[21] It was also issued in 7-inch and CD single formats.[22] The song's accompanying music video, directed by Christian Breslauer, was released on the same day via Grande's Vevo channel on YouTube.[23] The title of the song was teased by Grande days before release when she wore a sweatshirt, while out and about, with it as the caption—a practice she has followed to tease the lead singles of her albums.[24]
