U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Oregon State Director Vicki Walker staff the USDA booth at the Eugene/Springfield, OR Pride Festival along with representatives from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) on Aug. 13, 2016.

Eugene Pride Festival is an annual event held in August at Alton Baker Park[1] and Promotes Respect In Diverse Expression (P.R.I.D.E.) for the LGBTQ community.[2]

Background

Eugene Pride Festival is held in Eugene (which is Oregon's second biggest city and home to the University of Oregon). The festival began in 1991[3] and is organized several weeks after Pride Northwest - which takes place in the city of Portland.[1]

Activities

Dozens of organizations and businesses are provided with the space to exhibit their work. Also, visitors can find a beer garden, a kids' space, and food.

It also offers free HIV testing, which is provided by HIV Alliance.[3] The festival was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, but resumed in 2021.[4]

Local queer groups take part in the event and open their doors for visitors, boosting the local economy of these organizations and businesses.[5]
