Gizelle Annette Bryant (née Graves; born September 9, 1970) is an American television personality and author. She has appeared on the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Potomac since 2016.[1] Bryant served as First Lady of Empowerment Temple AME (African Methodist Episcopal).[2]
Early life and education
Bryant was born Gizelle Graves in Houston, Texas[3] to former politician and civil rights activist Curtis Graves and Joanne Graves.[4] She graduated from Hampton University in 1992 with a degree in marketing. After graduation, Bryant worked for the national headquarter of the NAACP under Congressman Kweisi Mfume.[5]
Career
Since the show's premiere on January 17, 2016, Bryant has been a leading cast member of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Potomac.[6]
In 2017, Bryant launched her beauty brand EveryHue Beauty.[7] She later became co-host of Bravo's Chat Room in 2020 with Porsha Williams.[5]
In May 2021, Bryant teamed with Robyn Dixon for Reasonably Shady, a podcast featuring stories from their lives and how they deal with them. In 2022, the podcast was nominated for Outstanding Arts and Entertainment Podcast at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.[8][9]
In March 2023, Bryant starred in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which premiered on Peacock.[10]
Author
Bryant published her book My Word in April 2019, for which she won an African-American Literary Award for Best Fiction.[3][9]
Personal life
Bryant married megachurch pastor and activist Jamal Harrison Bryant in 2002, and they have 3 daughters.[11]
In 2008, Bryant filed for divorce, accusing Jamal of adultery.[12] They divorced later in 2009.[13][14][15]
Bryant is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.[16][17]
