The Gozo Third Division was the third-highest division in Gozitan league football that for a brief stint took place in Gozo, Malta. It was organised by the Gozo Football Association.
History
The Gozitan Third Division was established after the creation of Marsalforn St. Pauli before the 1996–1997 season. This is because, the establishment thereof meant that the Gozitan football league was now contested by fifteen teams, which in turn allowed the Gozo Football Association to spread the fifteen Gozitan clubs over three divisions of five clubs each.
Following the disbandment of Marsalforn St. Pauli after the conclusion of the 1998–1999 season, the Third Division was cancelled and the Gozitan football league system reverted again to the existing structure of two divisions.
Oratory Youths and Marsalforn St. Pauli were the only two clubs which contested all the three seasons of the Gozitan Third Division.
Structure
Each club played each other three times and three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. The winner of the Gozitan Third Division was promoted to the Gozitan Second Division whereas the team which last placed in the Gozitan Second Division in the previous season was relegated to the Gozitan Third Division.
Following the disbandment of the Gozitan Third Division, all remaining clubs were promoted to the Gozitan Second Division.
