Geography

Gromoshikha is located 22 km (14 mi) northeast of Ustyuzhna (the district's administrative centre) by road. Imeni Zhelyabova is the nearest rural locality.[4]

For the first time in the monuments of writing, a village with a name in the form of a Thunderbolt is mentioned in the scribe's book of 1567. Places on hilltops, where lightning often hit ("hit"), were dedicated to the Russian pagans to the god of thunderstorms, Perun. The village that arose near this place received the characteristic name Gromoshiblya, which was then simplified to Gromoshikha. [5]
