"Heart Burn" (Korean: 열이올라요; RR: Yeol-iollayo) is a song by South Korean singer and songwriter Sunmi. It was released as a standalone single on June 29, 2022, through Abyss Company. "Heart Burn" is made available for digital download and streaming. The song also goes with the B-side track "Childhood".
Upon its release, the song entered Gaon Digital Chart and peaked at number 23, as well as charting at number 15 on the K-pop Hot 100 Billboard.
Composition
"Heart Burn" was composed and arranged by CobiCudi and Kyuwon 'Q' Kim.[1] Sunmi participated in writing lyric for both the title track and B-side track "Childhood". While having credit in music part for her B-side, Sunmi did not do it for the title song. In a showcase meeting, she explained that she wanted to see how other producers perceived her via composing this track.[2]
Sunmi considered "Heart Burn" to be the daytime version of her previous song "Pporappippam", which tells about love story in purple night. "Heart Burn" is described as a catchy dance and pop rock song, with an addictive melody that gives "mysterious yet energetic vibe".[3] B-side "Childhood" is also a city-pop-inspired song from the 2004 movie The Notebook and has the same vibe as her other tracks like "Black Pearl", "Faded Love".[4][5]
