Kaaval Poonaigal (transl. Police cats) is a 1989 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Kalaipuli G. Sekaran. The film stars Radhika, Nizhalgal Ravi, Bhanu Chander and Manjula. It was released on 19 May 1989.

Kaaval Poonaigal is based on true incidents. Due to its plot, the film became controversial and there were calls for its banning as it was rumored to be similar to the hospitalisation of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. G. Ramachandran.[1]

Release and reception
Kaaval Poonaigal was released on 19 May 1989.[4][5] P. S. S. of Kalki gave the film an extremely negative review.[6]
