History
The name "Madda Walabu" is a historical place, which is 227 km (141 mi) from the zonal town Bale Robe to the south west.[4] Historically the place is closely related to the Oromo people. It is the cradle of Oromo civilization and the birthplace of the Gadaa system.[5][4] It also produced numerous Oromo heroes.[5] Becauase of its deep rooted value for Oromo people, the name Madda Walabu is commonly used by Madda Walabu Stadium, Madda Walabu Cultural band, Madda Walabu University itself and other smaller business centers named after this unique place.[4][6]
