Mečislovas Leonardas Paliulionis (Polish: Mieczysław Leonard Pallulon; 19 November 1834 15 May 1908) was a Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Samogitia.

Biography

Paliulionis was born in 1834 in Panevėžys;[4] he attended the gymnasium there and, upon graduating from it, attended the seminary in Varniai and later St. Petersburg, where he was ordained a priest in 1860.[3] After being ordained, he served as a professor of dogmatic theology in Kaunas and Varniai[5] and also as a catechist.[6]

Paliulionis was appointed Bishop of Samogitia on 15 March 1883;[7] he was consecrated on 3 June by Szymon Marcin Kozłowski, bishop of Lutsk and Zytomierz, assisted by Kazimierz Józef Wnorowski, bishop of Lublin, and Józef Hollak, titular bishop of Arad.[2] He died on 15 May 1908, in Kaunas.[3]
