Nasrollah Moein Najafabadi (born 20 January 1952) (Persian: نصرالله معین نجفآبادی, romanized: Nasrollâh Moein Najafâbâdi), known professionally as Moein (Persian: معین, Persian pronunciation: [moˈ(ʔ)in]), is an Iranian pop and traditional music singer. He started his career in music and singing at the age of 18. His first official song called Yeki Ra Doost Midaram was published in 1979 and made him famous. After the 1979 revolution in Iran and as a result of imposing restrictions on music activists, Moein immigrated to the United States, where he pursued his career with the release of his first official album called Miparstam.
Early life
Moein was born in Najafabad, a city in Isfahan Province of Iran,[1] in a religious and financially middle-class family. He showed his interest in singing since childhood. Moin started his career at the age of 18 and for some time benefited from the training of some Iranian music masters. Moein released his first song to the music world in 1979 in Tehran with the title "Yeki Ra Doost Midaram". And It penetrated so much among the people that after a short time it crossed the borders of Iran and was read by other Iranian singers who immigrated to America after the revolution, Hayedeh, Ebi and Aref were among the most famous of these singers. With the release of this song, Moein overnight followed the path that many had worked for those years and became a famous singer.[2]
Career
He began his artistic career as a radio singer and released several albums before Miparastam in 1983, which was his first album to be widely noticed in Iran. The name of this album was Ghazal. In recent years, Moein has become widely acclaimed in Iran and he has played concerts all around the globe. He is referred to as "Javdan Sedaye Eshgh," which translates to "The Eternal Voice of Love".[3] Moein has a strange skill in presenting romantic and sad works, which is related to the burning and sadness hidden in his voice.
Personal life
He married a Spanish woman at the age of 38. Two years later, his first child was born.[4]
Moein separated from his wife and lived alone for a while. He got married for the second time. His second wife is Iranian named Panthea, with whom he has a daughter.
Moein currently lives in Encino, Los Angeles.
