Naane Raja Naane Mandhiri (transl. I am both the king and minister) is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film, directed by Balu Anand and produced by Thooyavan. The film stars Vijayakanth, Radhika and Jeevitha. It was released on 6 July 1985.[1] The film was remade in Telugu as Nene Raju Nene Mantri (1987).It received positive reviews from the Audience but some crticized the climax. Despite this, it became a blockbuster. It has a cult following for its songs and humour.
Plot
A self centred egoistic village zamindar who makes fun of people, is rude by nature and brash tries to accommodate a teacher who comes to his village in search of work. How she gets to understand him, how he reacts and how his uncle's daughter who initially adversely reacts to his tantrums reacts towards the end is the story. In short it is a triple edged love story with truth, passion and emotions galore.

Balu Anand, who worked as an assistant to R. Sundarrajan made his directorial debut with this film.[2]

Reception
Jayamanmadhan of Kalki wrote the film which went briskly went lame till the climax. They however praised the humour and Ilaiyaraaja's music.[5]
