Nic Read is a bestselling business author, researcher and award-winning educator.

Biography

Read was executive director of Ernst & Young's revenue growth assurance practice; founder of sales and marketing consulting and training firm SalesLabs; and visiting professor to the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in Moscow and Kingston University Business School in London.

He designed the "Architect Leader" coaching program[1] from research published in the Harvard Business Review which revealed the most effective leadership style for the education sector. When seeking an effective delivery technique, he field tested theories published by The Royal Society on how neuroscience affects the adult brain's capacity to learn new skills: the result was the Alpha-Gamma Learning Standard.[2] From 2019 he served as interim CEO and chancellor of vocational education and training college Capital College in Australia.

His models for education, management, sales and leadership have been featured in newspapers, magazines, radio and television news, including The European Financial Review,[3] Canberra Business News,[4] Dialogue Review,[5] The Age,[6] SellingPower,[7] Fox News,[8] ABC News,[9] South Africa's "Big Small Business Show"[10] and the British Academy of Management.[11] Read co-authored the business book, Selling to the C-Suite (McGraw Hill, 2009). The foreword was written by SPIN Selling creator Neil Rackham. An updated 10-year anniversary edition was released in 2019. Read's sequel, Target Opportunity Selling, was published by McGraw Hill in 2014.

In 2023 Read faced controversy in the Australian press for launching a Vocational Education think tank and marketing agency, The Group of Sixteen Australia, as a private enterprise to fill a gap in Australia's education market.[12][13] A separate government-funded group that promoted eight tertiary universities, known as the Group of Eight, voiced concern that although Read's coalition of private colleges targeted a strata of education its universities did not service, brand confusion may result.[14]
