Rawda (Arabic: الروضة Gulf Arabic pronunciation: /ɪrːoːðˤə/) is an area of Capital Governorate in Kuwait and a suburb of the capital city of Kuwait City. It comprises five blocks. The area is served by Rawda and Hawally Co-Op Society. It neighbours five other areas: Adialiya, Nizha, Hawally and Surra. The area falls between, and is served by, Kuwait's 3rd Ring Road & 4th Ring Road from East to West. Kuwait's Route 40 is located to the east of the area, and serves it from the north to the south.

History and Etymology

The area is named after its plants and flowers that bloom during the spring. The area was temporarily named East ʿDēlīya during and after its construction, before being renamed to Rawda, meaning garden or meadow in Arabic.[4]

Services

Hawally and Rawda Co-Op Society provides public consumer services, including running the main supermarket and convenience stores. The area's co-op is consistently ranked the best or one of the best in Kuwait.[5]
