Rico Elliott Anderson is an American film and television actor who has appeared in over 90 TV shows, films, and commercials.[1]
Early life
Anderson was born in Seaside, California and is the oldest of eleven children on his mother's side (6 biological and 5 adopted), and the 3rd of 4 children on his father's side. He was born in Seaside/Monterey, CA, and was raised on the south side of Chicago, as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Career
Acting since he was 12, Rico was a huge staple in the mainstream and indie theatre and film scene in the SF Bay Area. He is a founding member of the African American Shakespeare Company and performed traveling theatre for over 5 years all over Northern and Southern California performing for and peer educating children about health and safety in 4 major productions produced by Kaiser Permanente. Rico even got his feet wet early in the world of Star Trek as a member of the Star Trek Earth Tour from Paramount Parks at Paramount's Great America as the Klingon Ambassador Ri'Qoh!!
He has an impressive list of Television credits including 3 years as Herbie on the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series, Truth Be Told. He has had guest appearances on, FBI International, I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson, SWAT, The Orville, Star Trek Renegades, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, Bones, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of our Lives to name a few.
Onstage, he appeared in several noteworthy performances including the multiple award winning production of The Ballad of Emmett Till (Fountain Theatre, Los Angeles), Fences (NexStage Theatre, Ketchum Idaho), The title role in Oedipus (African American Shakespeare Company, San Francisco) , For The Love of Freedom-Trilogy (The Robey Theatre Company, Los Angeles), The Meeting as Malcolm X, Off off Broadway in Bed of Truth, Equus, and A Soldiers Play .
As a member of the L.A. based Sketch Comedy Troupe, 'The Outpatients', he performed at The World Famous Comedy Store Main Room.
He is a recipient of multiple awards including the NAACP and Telly Award, Drama Critics Circle, Ovation, SOFIE, Pasadena International Film Festival, NYFA and FIFF.
Rico appeared on the ballot under consideration for the 2023 Primetime EMMY® Awards in the category of OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES for his role as Daniel LeDee in FBI: International | Season 2, Episode 9: "Wheelman"
Rico still lives in Los Angeles, continues to work extensively in film, television, theatre and voice over, makes celebrity appearances at various sci fi conventions and is carefully selecting his next project.
