Rosen Zhelyazkov (Bulgarian: Росен Желязков; born 5 April 1968) is a Bulgarian politician and current Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.[1][2]
Career
In 1994, he began his career as a legal advisor at the Sofia Municipality's Sredets district, where he has since held senior legal advisor, secretary, and mayoral deputy positions. From starting 1995, he is a civil and commercial lawyer.[3][1]
Between 1998 and 1999, he worked as deputy mayor for "Law and Control" of Lozenets district, Sofia Municipality.[1][2][3][4]
From 2003 to 2009 he was secretary of the Sofia Municipality. Later on he continued working as Secretary General of the Council of Ministers from 2009 to 2013.[1][2][3][4]
During the period 2014-2016 he was Prime Minister on Public Administration and e-Government.[1][2][3][5]
As of 30 September 2016 by a decision of the Council of Ministers he was appointed Chairman of the State e-Government Agency.[1][3][6]
In 2018 September 20, he was elected by the National Assembly as Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.[1][3]
He was a Member of Parliament (GERB-UDF) in the 45th, 46th, 47th, 48th and 49th National Assembly.[2] On April 19th, 2023, following an agreement between GERB-UDF and the second largest froup in the National Assembly - PP-DB, Rossen Zhelyazkov was elected Parliament Chair with 136 votes in favour.
