His Excellency Salem Al-Shamsi (born June 28, 1968) is an Emirati diplomat and the current Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He assumed office on June 20, 2023.[1][2]
Career
Prior to his appointment as UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Al-Shamsi served as the Director General at the Presidential Court. He presented his credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Abuja.[1]
On November 13, 2023, Al-Shamsi paid a courtesy visit to Nigeria's Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, where they discussed areas of mutual interest, particularly in trade, tourism, and economic growth.[3]
Previous positions
Before his role as Director General at the Presidential Court, Al-Shamsi served as the Director of the Strategic Communication Department and the Director of the Institutional Coordination and Government Communication Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He also participated in various committees, including the Emergency and Crisis Management Committee of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the National and Reserve Service Committee.[1][2]
