Sandeep Modi (born 28 October 1982) is an Indian filmmaker. He is an engineer by education. He is known for The Night Manager (Indian TV series)[1][2][3][4] Aarya (TV series)[5] and Chumbak. Sandeep is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He can converse in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati.Sandeep Modi served as Showrunner and Director of the show, The Night Manager (Indian TV series), starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala produced by Ink Factory and Banijay. The show is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.[6][7][8] Sandeep Modi has written and directed Chumbak[9][10] and Aarya (TV series) . Aarya, a thriller, was digitally released on Disney+ Hotstar starring Sushmita Sen.[11][12] The series was nominated for India as part of the 2021 International Emmy Awards. Chumbak had its world premiere on 13 October 2017 in MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival.[13]
Life
Sandeep started his career as an assistant director with super hit films such as Sarkar Raj (2008), Delhi 6 (2009), What's Your Raashee? (2009), Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010), and Joker (2012). He has also assisted Ram Madhvani in Neerja, one of the highly acclaimed movies, which portrays the true story of Neerja, a flight attendant who risked her life to save the passengers from terrorists. Sandeep has made the short film Vanvaas, which stars Piyush Mishra and was officially screened at 2015 Toronto International Film Festival and the DFW South Asian Film Festival in 2016.
Awards
In 2015, his short film Best Friends Forever[14] won him the National Film Award for "Best film on Family Welfare".
