Satpal Singh Satti (born 5 January 1964) is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He won the Una constituency consecutively three times for BJP in 2003, 2007, 2012 and after that he lost the 2017 Assembly election to Satpal Raizada of Congress. And in 2022 he won again in Assembly elections from Satpal Raizada.
Early Life and Education
He had been the longest serving president of Himachal Pradesh state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party.[1] Satpal Satti’s legislative constituency is a part of Anurag Thakur parliamentary constituency.Satpal Singh Satti, born on 5th January 1964 in Jalgran, Una, is a seasoned politician and dedicated social worker known for his significant contributions to the development of Himachal Pradesh. Political Career
Satti's political journey began with active participation in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). His leadership skills were evident as he served as the State Secretary of ABVP from 1988 to 1991 and later as the National Secretary from 1990 to 1993. Embodying the ideals of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Satti took on roles such as General Secretary in Distt. Una, President of the State B.J.Y.M., and Membership in the State BJP Executive Committee. His significant contribution culminated in his presidency of the State BJP from 2010 to January 2020.
In recognition of his capabilities, Satti was entrusted with the responsibility of Chairman of the State Finance Commission from August 2020 to December 2022, showcasing his financial acumen and administrative prowess.
Elected to the State Legislative Assembly in 2003, Satti has consistently won the trust of the electorate, securing re-election in 2007 and 2012. Throughout his legislative tenure, he actively participated in committees like Public Accounts, Rural Planning, Estimates, and Subordinate Legislation, focusing on key aspects of governance and development.
In his role as Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Satti was attached to the Chief Minister for MPP & Power and Youth Services and Sports from 9th July 2009 to March 2012. His dynamic leadership and commitment to various committees further solidified his standing in Himachal Pradesh's political landscape.
In the December 2022 elections, Satpal Singh Satti was elected for the fourth term to the State Legislative Assembly. Nominated as a Member of the Estimates, Public Administration, and Rules Committees, Satti continues to play a pivotal role in shaping legislative decisions and policies for the state's progress.
