The Shanghai E-Prix is a future race of the FIA Formula E World Championship, an all-electric single-seater racing series. The race will be held for the first time at the Shanghai International Circuit on the 25 May 2024.[1]
History
Formula E has raced in China multiple times, with the Beijing ePrix serving as the opening race for the first and second seasons and the Sanya ePrix being held in 2019. There was supposed to be a race in Sanya in 2020, but this was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
The Shanghai ePrix was announced as part of the calendar for the 2023-24 season on 19 October 2023.[1] It will be held as a double header, with the second race substituting for the Jakarta ePrix, which was cancelled due to the upcoming presidential election.[3]
Circuit
The race is due to be held on the Shanghai International Circuit, the same venue that hosts Formula One's Chinese Grand Prix.[1] However, as of January 2024, the specific layout has not been announced.
