The Canadian government alleged that Abdallah and others had financially supported gangs in Haiti that have contributed to the Haitian humanitarian crisis. The Canadian government placed a freeze on Abdallah's asserts in Canada.[1] In response, Abdallah resigned from Sogebank, one of the largest commercial banks in Haiti.[3]
