Sing Sing is a 2023 American drama film directed by Greg Kwedar, who co-wrote the screenplay with Clint Bentley.[1] Based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing maximum security prison, the film centres on a group of inmates involved in the creation of theatrical stage shows through the program.[2]
The cast includes professional actors Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, but mainly comprises real-life former inmates who were themselves alumni of the program during their incarceration.[2]
The film premiered in the Special Presentations program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.[3]
Premise
A small group of prisoners inside Sing Sing Correctional Facility, one of the world's most infamous maximum security prisons, attempt to stage their own original production, "Breakin' The Mummy's Code."

Release
The film premiered in the Special Presentations program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was picked up by A24 for a theatrical release in North America. They are planning to release the film in 2024.
Reception
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 93% of 14 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 9.3/10.[4]
