Sopachuy is the seat of the homonymous municipality located in the Tomina Province in the Chuquisaca Department of Bolivia. At the time of the 2001 census, the municipio had 7241 inhabitants.[2]
Sopachuy was founded on 30 October 1581, and was the site of the Battle of Sopachuy (1817).
