Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz bin Syed Abdul Fasal (Jawi سيد أبو حسين بن حفيظ سيد عبدالفصل; is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukit Gantang since May 2018. He previously served in the government as Chairman of Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM).[1]
Political career
In May 2018, Syed Abu Hussin first contested to become an MP in the 14th Malaysian general election and subsequently won the Bukit Gantang seat with a 4,089 majority.
He resigned from UMNO to be an Independent politician in 2018.[2]
Presently he is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU), a component of Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.[3]
On 28 November 2023, Syed Abu Hussin declares support on current government during Prime Minister's Question time in Parliament, being the fifth from BERSATU to do so. However, like the four MPs who declared support for the 10th Prime Minister before him, he still retains the membership of BERSATU.
