Unique Kings Obi (born 31 October 1994) is a Nigerian talent manager and music executive.[1] He is the founder of Solvent Digital, an entertainment and production company. He is also the co-founder of African Creators Academy,[2] and the convener of African Creators Summit held yearly in Lagos, Nigeria.[3][4]
Early life and education
Unique was born on 31 October, 1994 in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Abuja where he also spent most of his childhood. He is an indigene of Imo State, and was born as the last child to the family of Mr & Mrs Obi.[5]
He attended Bethel Seminary Owerri, Imo State, where he acquired his secondary education. In 2017, he graduated from Renaissance University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications.[6]
Career
Unique discovered his passion for the entertainment industry during his last phase at Bethel Seminary, Owerri. His brothers also ventured into the music industry, further making him gain more exposure in the entertainment scene.[7]
In 2018, he officially started his career as a digital marketer for Festival of Lights event, headlined by Burna boy. In December 2018, he partnered with Mavin Records to host Johnny Drille’s Room Live in Abuja.[8] In 2019, Unique moved to Lagos in search for bigger opportunities. With time, he became the digital marketer for Alternate Sound, an hip-hop 3-man music band. Later on, he also became the talent manager for MTN Project Fame, 9th edition winner, Okiemute Ighorodje.[9][10]
In 2022, he founded his own company, Solvent Digital.[11] In 2023, he co-founded the African Creators Academy alongside Oladapo Adewumi .[12] In January 2024, they announced the launch of the African Creators Summit, which will be hosted by Nigerian comedian, Laisisi Elenu.
