"YouTube Copyright School" is a video of the American adult animated series Happy Tree Friends created for YouTube. It was uploaded by the official YouTube channel on March 25, 2011. It is created for users who infringe copyright, and sends them to Copyright School, which contains the video along with a quiz where they need to answer a few questions.[1]

Plot

The video begins with Russell at the movie theater, watching 'Lumpy and the Lumpettes - The Movie'. He is excited, even Lumpy. Russell gets his phone and records the movie, then he uploads it to YouTube. And the narrator says "You didn't create that video! You just copied someone else's content!". The narrator explains what copyright is, and when occurs. Russell's reupload of the movie then gets taken down by Lumpy, then Russell receives the email informing him of his actions. Russell goes seeing Lumpy, Petunia and Giggles singing the theme song. Russell records it, but it is still protected by copyright. He uploads a video called 'Russell's Remix', which is Russell's remix of Lumpy's song. Russell doesn't know if it's fair use or not, then a 'Fair Use' card appears explaining what's fair use. Lumpy discovers Russell's video, and he takes it down. Russell tries to send a counter-notification, but the narrator explains that you might end up in court if you misuse the process. The video ends with Russell in a cannon on a boat singing his original song, but he explodes and finishes underwater.[2]

Reception

The video was disliked by many YouTube users for the fact that it contained Happy Tree Friends characters, and that users hate videos featuring Happy Tree Friends characters. It became YouTube's most hated video, and many users said it on websites.[3][4]
