The Colorado Rockies' 1996 season was the fourth for the Rockies. Managed by Don Baylor, they played home games at Coors Field and finished with a record of 83-79, third in the National League West.

Offseason

  • November 20, 1995: Joe Girardi was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the New York Yankees for Mike DeJean.[1]
  • December 18, 1995: Jeff Reed was signed as a free agent by the Colorado Rockies.[2]

Regular season

  • The only no-hitter at Coors Field was thrown by Hideo Nomo of the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 17, 1996.[3]
  • On May 11, 1996, Al Leiter threw the first no-hitter in Florida Marlins history. The Marlins beat the Rockies by a score of 11-0.[4]
