Sources of Alabama utility-scale electricity generation:
full-year 2022[1]

  Natural Gas (41.9%)
  Nuclear (28.4%)
  Coal (17.4%)
  Hydroelectric (6.8%)
  Biomass (2.1%)
  Solar (0.6%)
  Other (2.7%)

This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in Alabama, sorted by type and name. In 2021, Alabama had a total summer capacity of 28,911 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 144,967 GWh.[2] The corresponding electrical energy generation mix in 2022 was 41.9% natural gas, 28.4% nuclear, 17.4% coal, 6.8% hydroelectric, 2.1% biomass, and 0.6% solar. The state is the second largest hydroelectric producer in the eastern U.S. (after New York), and its Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant is the nation's second largest nuclear generating facility.[1]
