The 2023–24 season is the 132nd season in the history of Liverpool Football Club and their sixty-second consecutive season in the top flight of English football. The club are participating in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

Virgil van Dijk was appointed as the new club captain after the departure of former captain Jordan Henderson. The Dutchman also became the club's second-non British and Irish club captain after Sami Hyypiä who was appointed in the 2001–02 season with Trent Alexander-Arnold replacing James Milner as the vice-captain.

This season is the first since 2010–11 without captain Jordan Henderson, the first since 2014–15 without James Milner and Roberto Firmino, the first since 2016–17 without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the first since 2017–18 without Naby Keïta and Fabinho.

FA Cup

As a Premier League side, Liverpool entered the competition in the third round and were drawn away to fellow Premier League side Arsenal.[57] They were then drawn at home against either Norwich City or Bristol Rovers in the fourth round.[58]

EFL Cup

As a European team, Liverpool entered the competition in the third round, and were drawn at home to EFL Championship side Leicester City.[59] They were then drawn away to fellow Premier League club Bournemouth in the fourth round,[60] and at home against West Ham United in the quarter-finals.[61] In the two-legged semi-finals, they were drawn against Fulham.[62][63]
