Balaband Rural District (Persian: دهستان بالابند) is in the Central District of Fariman County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[3] Its capital is the village of Zarkak.[4]
At the National Census of 2006, its population was 8,501 in 1,909 households.[5] There were 8,868 inhabitants in 2,330 households at the following census of 2011.[6] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 7,918 in 2,203 households. The largest of its 46 villages was Chahar Bast Bagh, with 979 people.[2]
