The Battle of Sangamner was fought between the Mughal Empire and the Maratha Empire in 1679. This was the last battle fought by Shivaji.

The battle happened when Shivaji was returning from the sack of Jalna, northeast of Bombay, where he was attacked at Sangamner by Mughal army led by Ranmast Khan in November 1679. The Maratha rearguard held the Mughals for three days of fierce fighting before the Maratha commander Sidhoji Nimbalkar was eventually killed, along with about 2,000 of his men. It was Shivaji’s last battle and he died six months later.[1]
