Constellation is an upcoming American psychological thriller television series created by Peter Harness. The series is scheduled to be released on February 21, 2024, with its first three episodes.[1]

Premise

A woman who has returned to Earth upon a disaster during her mission finds parts of her life seemingly missing.

Episodes

Michelle MacLaren directed the first two episodes.[1] Oliver Hirschbiegel and Joseph Cedar also directed episodes.[2][1]

Production

It was announced in April 2022 that Apple TV+ had greenlit the series, created by Peter Harness, for a series order. Noomi Rapace and Jonathan Banks were announced to star with Michelle MacLaren directing.[3] The next month, James D'Arcy would join the cast, Oliver Hirschbiegel and Joseph Cedar were announced as directors of episodes for the series alongside MacLaren.[2]

The production received a record €10 million grant from the German government's German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF).[4] It also received €1.5 million in production incentives by Business Finland.[5]

Filming for the series began by September 2022 in Berlin.[6] The series was also filmed in the municipality of Inari in Finnish Lapland in January and February 2023.[7][8]

In August 2023, Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported that the production companies of the series have failed to pay for the various services that the film crew used in Finnish Lapland. The due sum is over one million euros in total.[9][5] The companies left unpaid include estate companies, catering services, casting services and an electrical contractor.[10]
