Emblem of Hamas

The emblem of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist militant organization that rules the Gaza Strip, features Islamic and militaristic motifs.

Features

The emblem shows two crossed swords in front of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The mosque is framed by two Palestinian flags that feature the two statements that comprise the Shahada: "There is no god but Allah" (right flag) and "Mohammed is the messenger of Allah" (left flag).[1]

Above the Dome of the Rock is a map of Mandatory Palestine. Immediately below the Dome it reads "Palestine" and below that in the green banner: "Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas".[2]
