The MLB World Tour: Mexico City Series is a recurring series of Major League Baseball (MLB) games played at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú in Mexico City. The first games played were between the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants during the 2023 season.

Canceled 2020 series

MLB scheduled two games at Alfredo Harp Helú stadium to be played on April 18–19, 2020, with the Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the Padres.[1] Major League Baseball canceled this series on March 19, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]

2023 series

The first regular-season games to be played in Mexico City took place on April 29 and 30, 2023, between the Padres and Giants. The Padres won the first game, 16–11, and won the second, 6–4. The crowd was heavily biased towards the Padres, who are based very close to the Mexican border, and attracted fans from the U.S. and from across Mexico.[3] Due to the high altitude and hitter-friendly dimensions of the stadium, the first game included 11 home runs from 10 different players, tying an MLB record.[4] On the Wednesday after the trip, Giants pitcher Logan Webb told reporters that he estimated most of the Giants team returned from Mexico City with digestive ailments.[5]

2024 series

Ken Rosenthal reported in May 2023 that the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies would play in the 2024 edition of the Mexico City Series.[6]
