Hormuz (Persian: هرمز, also Romanized as Hurmuz; also known as Ormus, Qal‘eh-ye Hormoz, قلعهٔ هرمز)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Hormuz District of Bandar Abbas County, Hormozgan province, Iran.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 5,699 in 1,143 households, when it was in Qeshm County.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 5,867 people in 1,345 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 5,891 people in 1,698 households.[2]
In March 2019, the district was transferred to Bandar Abbas County.[4]
